So that leaves the question of configuration and/ or methodolgy for software reinstallation. So I would say it is safe to say the problem is probably not Vegas Movie Studio. The good news is - everybody that I know of that is running core2 or quad cores are getting great results and faster times. (using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum, 7.0a build 52) Question: has anyone else experienced something like this? I'm not much of a gamer, so I don't need a blazing fast PC, but heck, it would be nice if Vegas would make use of the faster CPU, right? So I imagine that, if it weren't for this power saving feature, Vegas's renderinig times would be much shorter. On the old PC, while rendering, the CPU would go close to 100 percent. When I looked at the CPU utilization with Windows Task Manager I noticed that the CPU is indeed just slightly utilized, showing somewhere between 5 and 10 percent usage. I assume this has something to do with the power saving features of the CPU. This program indicated that the Core 2 Duo processor was not running at full speed, but at (almost) half speed instead. And no, the total rendering time is never the same.Īt one of those rendering tests I had CPUZ running. I was hoping for twice as fast, but got twice as slow! I tested it several times, just to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. On the Core 2 Duo PC it takes between 6 and 8 minutes to render. Just before the hardware upgrade I created a small 15 minute project, and benchmarked it: it took almost 4 and a half minutes. I have been doing some benchmarking for the past 4 days now, and the results are very good, with speed gains of up to 3 times, with one big exception: Vegas! Not only does Vegas not run faster, on the contrary, it runs MUCH slower. The motherboard, though nothing special, is of course based on technology that's a bit faster than what I had for my AMD system. The new CPU is a Core 2 Duo E4500 (at 2.2 GHz), the old one a slightly overclocked Mobile AMD Athlon XP2600+ (at 2.4 GHz). Last week I upgraded my PC with a new motherboard and CPU. I am confused, puzzled, and a tad disappointed.
